RoRI is hiring! Join our core team based at UCL

The Research on Research Institute (RoRI) was founded in 2019 by an international group of research funders and researchers with a mission to accelerate transformational research on research systems, cultures and decision-making. We are now advertising for four roles in our core team, which is based in the Department for Science, Technology, Engineering & Public Policy (STEaPP) at University College London (UCL).

All four roles offer a fantastic opportunity to be centrally involved in building a young venture with an ambitious agenda to support the transformation of research systems and cultures over the next 5-10 years. More details are available at the links below.

Operations Manager

RoRI’s Operations Manager will lead the day-to-day running of the institute, manage its core operations team, and represent and support its Executive Director on operational matters with partners and project teams across the world. They will ensure that we meet our financial, governance and regulatory responsibilities, and will act as board secretary to RoRI‘s Partnership Board. The successful applicant will have a proven track record of operational management in a higher education or similar environment, with strong organisational and financial skills. They will have the ability to represent RoRI to senior stakeholders internationally on operational matters, and to engage with broader international networks. Deadline: 7 November 2023. For more details or to apply, see here.

Research Fellow in Metascience

RoRI’s Research Fellow in Metascience will play a central role in several of RoRI’s projects. Given the breadth of our work, they could join us from a diverse range of disciplinary and methodological backgrounds, and will add their expertise to a growing international team: working with our partners to test interventions, and to generate and analyse data about the inner workings of the research system, and the impacts that research has in societies. The successful applicant will have completed their PhD or have equivalent research or professional experience. They will have demonstrable interests in one or more areas of metascience and be comfortable working in a flexible and collaborative research environment, and in gathering, analysing and/or modelling quantitative or qualitative data. They will have strong interpersonal skills and a track record of writing for academic, user and other audiences. Deadline: 16 November 2023. For more details or to apply, see here.

Communications & Impact Manager

RoRI’s Communications & Impact Manager will be responsible for designing and delivering our communications strategy, and building a culture of impact reporting across our work. They will oversee RoRI’s website, social media and wider communications; and develop systems for impact monitoring and reporting to our partners and stakeholders. The successful applicant will have a qualification in a communications or marketing discipline, or equivalent professional experience, and good working knowledge of social media and website content management. They will have excellent organisational and project management skills, and will be comfortable working across multiple projects with a distributed international network of partners and researchers. Deadline: 7 November 2023. For more details or to apply, see here.

RoRI Administrator

RoRI’s Administrator will play a crucial role in the day-to-day running of the institute, working closely with the Operations Manager and providing administrative support to the Executive Director, Co-Chairs and wider RoRI Board. This will include diary management, arranging meetings and minute-taking, logistical support with events, dealing with correspondence, and liaising with external partners. The successful applicant will have experience in an administrative role, with the ability to work effectively as part of a small yet dynamic team. They will be able to meet individual and group deadlines and to manage their own workload through effective prioritising, time management and organisational skills. They will have strong interpersonal skills, and strengths in verbal and written communications. Deadline: 7 November 2023. For more details or to apply, see here.
