RoRI and AIMOS are launching the MetaROR (MetaResearch Open Review) platform
MetaROR (MetaResearch Open Review) is a new open platform designed to transform how we review and share metaresearch through the publish-review-curate model.
Developed by RoRI and the Association for Interdisciplinary Meta-Research and Open Science (AIMOS), MetaROR’s model aims to accelerate the communication of scholarly work. Peer review will take place after publication rather than before and will be organised openly, thereby enabling reviews to be reused and reducing the pressure on the peer review system.
On 21 November, RoRI and AIMOS will officially launch MetaROR at the AIMOS 2024 Conference in Canberra, with free streaming available. AIMOS President Adrian Barnett and RoRI Executive Director James Wilsdon will introduce MetaROR and discuss the background of the project. Following up, three journal editors – Simine Vazire (Psychological Science), Ginny Barbour (Medical Journal of Australia), and Sujatha Raman (Journal of Responsible Innovation) – will share their perspectives on the future of scholarly communication.
To accommodate those who may not be able to join the Australian launch time, we will also host an online seminar on 26 November at 15:00 GMT / 16:00 CET. In this seminar, Kathy Zeiler and Ludo Waltman, the Editors-in-Chief of MetaROR, will introduce the platform and discuss the benefits of MetaROR’s innovative publish-review-curate model. In addition, authors of articles reviewed by MetaROR will share their experiences, and journal editors will reflect on how they expect to collaborate with MetaROR to streamline publication processes.
Both events are open to anyone interested in metaresearch or innovation in scientific publishing. You can register to stream the official launch at the AIMOS 2024 Conference for free here, and you can book your place for the online seminar on 26 November here.
