Denis (they/them) is a Lecturer in Data Science at the University of Sheffield. Their research investigates best practices and principles of the responsible use of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies in practice, with a particular focus on the intersection of AI, health, and disability.

Their work is highly interdisciplinary, drawing on methods and paradigms from natural language processing, artificial intelligence and machine learning, health informatics, critical data studies, disability studies, and data science communication. They also serve as an Executive Group member of the UK Young Academy and a Visiting Fellow of the National Institutes of Health Clinical Center. In RoRI, Denis leads the GRAIL project on developing best practices for responsible AI in the research funding context.
