This event is being organised in partnership with the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) and European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO).
Who should attend
This event is open to anyone but particularly tailored towards those working in research funding organisations and RoRI partners.
What you will learn
The workshop will unpick the evidence and experience of leading research funders in using randomisation and lotteries to create a fairer, more effective funding system.
We’ll also be presenting RoRI’s Experimental Research Funders’ Handbook - an online resource and accompanying report aiming to provide practical guidance and tips to those looking to run their own experiments.
As well as exploring the practicalities of evidence-informed grant allocation, we’ll be presenting findings from an in-depth qualitative study looking at the motivations, drivers and concerns around the use of partial randomisation.
We’ll also hear from four funders who are running experiments. Volkswagen, Health Research Council of New Zealand, Swiss National Science Foundation and the Austrian Science Fund will share what they did, what worked and their key take-home lessons.
You can register now for Experiments in evaluation: lessons from randomisation in research funding and we look forward to seeing you there.
